Telluride Festival Lodging Guide: Festival Dates & When to Book

Telluride’s festival calendar is why a lot of people finally book the trip: Bluegrass in June, Mountainfilm in late May, Jazz in August, the Film Festival over Labor Day weekend, and Blues & Brews in September. Lodging is the hard part. Town is small, Town Park is the main stage for several of these, and 2-bedroom condos disappear once dates go public.
This guide is written from Unit 331 at Telluride Lodge (747 W Pacific Ave), a 2-bedroom town-base condo that sleeps 6. It is not a ticket site. Dates below are the ones posted by each festival or Visit Telluride as of October 2026. Always re-check the organizer before you buy non-refundable flights.
2027 festival dates (as posted)
Mountainfilm: May 27–31, 2027 (mountainfilm.org). Telluride Bluegrass Festival: June 17–20, 2027 (bluegrass.com). Telluride Jazz Festival: August 13–15, 2027 on telluridejazz.org (Visit Telluride currently lists August 13–14). Telluride Film Festival: September 3–6, 2027 (Visit Telluride). Telluride Blues & Brews Festival: September 17–19, 2027 (Visit Telluride).
The 2026 editions of Mountainfilm (May 21–25), Bluegrass (June 18–21), and Jazz (August 7–8, with an opening show August 6) have already run. If you are reading this for next summer, 2027 is the planning year. Dates can still shift; treat them as planning windows, not a contract.
Mountainfilm (late May)

Mountainfilm is a documentary festival, not a Town Park concert. Screenings and talks run around town, and the box canyon is just opening for summer. Nights are still cold at 8,750 feet. A condo kitchen and laundry help more than a hotel minibar if you are here five days.
It is the first big lodging scramble of the season but usually less frantic than Bluegrass. Town stays beat Mountain Village if you want to walk between venues. Unit 331 is a west-end walk to Colorado Avenue, not a slope-side hotel.
Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June)

Bluegrass is the lodging bottleneck. Planet Bluegrass posts the next two years at once (the festival sits on the weekend closest to the summer solstice). Town Park fills with stages, camping, and about 10,000 Festivarians. A Telluride Lodge condo on W Pacific is in town, on the west side: you walk to Colorado Avenue rather than camping in the park, and you come home to a private deck, kitchen, and lodge hot tubs when the last set ends.
If you need quiet at 11 p.m., Mountain Village is the quieter bedroom. You will gondola or Goose back at night, and the tram can queue. If you want to walk home after Town Park, stay in Telluride proper and book the condo the day the calendar opens.
Jazz, Film Festival, and Blues & Brews
Jazz is a shorter town weekend (two main days, plus an opening show in some years). It is easier on lodging than Bluegrass but still not a walk-up. Film Festival is invitation-heavy and Labor Day adjacent: restaurants, late nights, and almost no last-minute 2-bedrooms. Blues & Brews in mid-to-late September is the last full music weekend before town slows down; pack a layer, and assume minimum stays lengthen on the calendar.
All three are town events. A hotel on Colorado Avenue puts you in the noise. A west-end lodge condo still walks to Main Street and gives you a kitchen for breakfast before you spend the day in line. Mountain Village only makes sense if you want to detach at night.
Where to stay, and how early to book
For festival weeks we tell guests the same thing: stay in town if the stages matter, cook if you are a group, and do not count on a second parking space. Unit 331 includes one Lodge space; extra cars need a public garage. The condo is 2 bedrooms, 2 baths (1 toilet), sleeps 6 (6 adults max), with a ski closet you will ignore in June and a private deck you will use after the last encore.
Direct stays on telluride331.com can be booked up to 12 months ahead, similar to VRBO. Festival inventory at that horizon is the realistic window, not a two-month glance. Check the calendar for the exact nights, including any longer minimum stay that week, then book direct if the total is the one you want to pay. Confirm festival dates on the organizer sites before you lock flights.
